Tattoos Should Have a Purpose’: Shiwani Chakraborty on Her Fifth Ink

Actress Shiwani Chakraborty, currently seen in Anupamaa, has added another meaningful tattoo to her collection. The actress recently got her fifth tattoo, a pink lotus, and revealed that the decision was deeply thought out and spiritually guided.

Speaking about her latest ink, Shiwani shared that she strongly believes tattoos should carry meaning. “This is my fifth tattoo, and I feel one should always understand the significance of what they’re getting inked. I chose a pink lotus because it symbolizes purity. It’s a very sacred flower and also my absolute favorite,” she said.

Interestingly, the actress consulted her astrologer—who has been guiding her for the past 17 years—before finalizing the design. “I was initially planning something else, but I always take my astrologer’s advice, even when it comes to tattoos. She told me that stars suit my body well, which is why I already have a star tattoo. To create balance, we added the sun and moon along with the lotus,” Shiwani explained.

According to her astrologer, the lotus aligned perfectly with Shiwani’s planetary positions. The placement of the tattoo was also carefully chosen. “She said the lotus would bring balance, abundance, and prosperity, and it would positively impact my acting career. That convinced me completely,” she added.

The lotus also holds personal significance for Shiwani at this phase of her life, as it represents her skincare brand, Pavitram. “It’s symbolic of where I am right now. I can even relate it to the stamp on my back—it all connects beautifully,” she shared.

Talking about tattoos in general, Shiwani believes they represent strength, both physically and mentally. “Getting a tattoo is painful, and that pain itself symbolizes strength. It teaches you patience, balance, and clarity. You need to be loyal to your work and firm in your decisions—if your mind keeps changing, things become difficult,” she said.

She added that tattoos also carry a powerful life lesson. “A tattoo teaches you to be decisive and clear-headed. Once you decide something, you should do it with complete conviction,” she noted.

Concluding on a reflective note, Shiwani compared life to the journey of a lotus. “A lotus blooms in the mud. Similarly, even when negativity surrounds us, we must continue to grow, bloom, and shine. Stay positive, even in the toughest situations,” she signed off.
